Client selects acoustic shapes for silicon valley headquarters

Light Field Lab

Interior designer, Deb Longua-Zamero of DLZ | INTERIORS in collaboration with Client, Jeff Barnes, created a visual playground for Light Field Labโ€™s new San Jose office space, selecting Acoufelt to create custom acoustic Shapes for their spectacular corridor feature wall.

The refurbished headquarters of Silicon Valleyโ€™s shiniest Light Field Lab, a venture capital backed tech company specializing in holographic technology, has been transformed into what the designer describe as โ€œan innovative workplace environment, incorporating light, reflectivity, texture and depth perceptionโ€. The intricate project included a new reception area, cafe, employee lounge, executive conference room and client display rooms.

The design team approached Acoufelt with a distinct vision in mind: to create a custom corridor feature wall of โ€œdisintegrating triangles of various Escheresque shapesโ€ in colors mirroring the vibrant LED light channels in the neighboring hallway. Each of the 500-piece multi-colored shapes were custom precision cut from our FilaSorbโ„ข acoustic material, with the final installation covering an area of 1 metre high and 3 metres in length.

The clever play ofย colors, texture, and contrasting light and dark in this wall installation perfectly serves the design intention of thisย project;ย encapsulating the highly visual and experience-oriented ethos of Light Field Lab.
