Nelson selects Fracture and WoodBeQuiet™ for Husch Blackwell’s Phoenix branch

Husch Blackwell

Husch Blackwell is a Missouri-based litigating and business services law firm with a presence in 19 cities across the US. Husch Blackwell enlisted architect, design, and strategy firm NELSON Worldwide to revitalize their Phoenix branch and curate a space that would not only inspire its employees but stimulate the client onboarding journey from start to finish.

Inspired by the vibrant desert landscape of Phoenix, Arizona, NELSON’s design team envisioned a space that incorporates abstract organic forms and colors with layers of contrasting textures. Rich warm metals, glowing accent lighting, and soft patterns were used in the design to create vignettes of focal points that complement the outdoor views. Stepping inside the main boardroom, one can observe the subtle ‘Chevron’ pattern of Acoufelt’s acoustic Fracture Panels in color ‘Iris’. The color and texture of the panels provide a cool contrast against the warm finishes and rugged, desert outlook, as well as serve the functional purpose of absorbing excess sound created in the space.

In addition to the traditional offices and meeting rooms, the NELSON design team infused work areas with more laidback seating options—giving employees more comfortable places to tackle tasks. Strengthening the hospitality component, the bespoke lighting fixtures and curvilinear schemes also push the boundaries on the conventional law firm aesthetic.

Acoufelt’s WoodBeQuiet™ acoustic planks in color ‘Log Cabin’ cover the ceiling above the kitchen break-out space, reminiscent of a fine-dining and elevated bar experience.

The acoustic planks provide the biophilic appeal of real wood, whilst also being the preferred lightweight option for the ceiling. The planks also deliver on achieving NELSON’s sustainable design goals, being made from 60% recycled material.

Husch Blackwell’s reimagined office has an inviting sense of hospitality to further elevate the workplace experience, while also pushing the evolving boundaries of law office design.
